Fertilising a Osmanthus × burkwoodii
To support the robust growth and maintain the lush green foliage of Osmanthus × burkwoodii, fertilizing is an important aspect of its care. A balanced, all-purpose fertilizer applied once a year in early spring is sufficient to replenish the nutrients needed for its development. This feeding schedule coincides with the onset of the active growth phase, ensuring the nutrients are readily available for the plant to utilize.
When applying fertilizer, spread it evenly around the base of the plant, taking care not to concentrate it against the stems. Water thoroughly after fertilizing to help distribute the nutrients into the soil. This will encourage strong, healthy growth and enhance the plant's ability to withstand lower winter temperatures, within its hardiness range of USDA zone 6b, where it can survive temperatures down to -17.8°C to -20.5°C.
