Hedgeplants offer privacy and protection
Whether you’re enjoying a glass of wine, relaxing on a lounger on the lawn or are having a barbecue with friends, you don't want to be seen by people on the street or by your neighbors from their garden. It is nice to have a separation between your gardens or between your garden and the street. Of course you can opt for a fence. A stone fence, a concrete fence or even a wooden fence. But before you do, ask yourself if you really want a fence. It doesn't look homely at all. A plant hedge, on the other hand, gives your garden a cozy, warm feeling. And it also delivers color to your garden. Believe it or not, but in most cases you will save money. A hedge provides privacy, but also protection. Read this blog to find out all about it!
How to truly enjoy privacy
Nothing more annoying than a neighbor who is constantly looking at you when you’re relaxing in the garden. What about people peeking into your garden from the sidewalk? You probably don't have a lot of free time, so when you are home you really want to enjoy the time you have for yourself and your family. Time to make sure you have a good partition between your gardens or the sidewalk. There are a number of hedges that are great for privacy. These hedges grow quickly and are densely branched. So no, there won't be anyone poking their head in between the plants anytime soon. Thank goodness!
Below you’ll find a couple of hedge plants which all form a dense hedge. Find more information about these plants on our website!
Thuja
The conifer, or Thuja, is a very popular plant and can be found in many places; really all over the world. It is very suitable for forming a dense hedge so you don't feel spied on. In our assortment we have no less than five species of Thuja: Thuja Occidentalis Brabant, Thuja Occidentalis Smaragd, Thuja Plicata Atrovirens, Thuja Plicata Martin and Thuja Plicata Excelsa. It looks beautiful, attracts birds with its red berries and will also ensure a dense hedge that no one can see through. You can order these varieties on our website: Taxus Baccata, Taxus Baccata David, Taxus Media Hicksii and Taxus Hillii. Do you have (grand)children or a pet? Then keep in mind that the plant is highly toxic.
Laurel
The laurel, which goes by the name of Prunus Laurocerasus as well, is available in a lot of varieties. What they have in common is that they have (large) shiny leaves and that they offer privacy, because the hedge becomes very dense. Laurel Caucasica, Laurel Novita, Laurel Rotundifolia, Laurel Genolia, Laurel Etna and Portuguese Laurel are all suitable for a high, dense hedge that offers lots of privacy. Order them online on our website.
Photinia
The red leaves of the Photinia, also known as Photinia Fraseri Red Robin, make the plant very attractive. The stem is also very special with its bright red color. And yes, these plants also form a dense hedge. You have little or no chance of prying eyes. Good to know: the plan gives your garden a great look thanks to the red color. And let’s not forget that the plant shows beautiful white flowers in spring!
Cypress
A hedge of Cypresses, or Chamaecyparis, is a beautiful sight and in addition - you guessed it - together they form a dense hedge. You won't be disappointed if you plant a hedge of these cypresses between your garden and the neighbor's garden or between your garden and the street. Enjoy your privacy on your day or evening off. We have the Cupressocyparis Leylandii, Blue California Cypress or Yellow California Cypress in our assortment.
Holly
The Holly, or Ilex, has spiny leaves. It forms a dense hedge and thus offers you privacy, it will certainly ensure that no uninvited guests peek into your garden. They will rather look for a garden that is easier to enter, because it is rather painful to go through the hedge. And if you think the other way around, it's also nice not to lose your (grand)children or dog, for example, or have to look for them at the neighbors’ garden. The sharp spines keep dogs and children in your garden. Just make sure they can't get away in any other way of course. These four species: Ilex Heckenfee, Ilex Heckenstar, Ilex Blue Maid and Ilex Blue Prince can be ordered on our website.
