5 gardening tips for the month of August
When it comes to gardening and taking care of your hedge plants, August is the rest month. Not much needs to be done in this month. Occasional extra watering of your plants during periods of long drought is recommended, but not much else is on the agenda. Time to start enjoying your garden in other ways. We have listed some great tips for garden fun for you.
Tip 1: Multi-purpose water sprinkler
In the summer months it can get nice and warm outside. It's nice to cool down every now and then. Do you normally use a water sprinkler for watering your hedge plants? This is ideal! After watering your plants, you can also use this for your own cooling. You can just let the water run over you, but of course you can also invent all kinds of games for extra water fun.
Don't have a water sprinkler? You can also have lots of water fun with a garden hose or inflatable pool.
Tip 2: Get moving
Even though August is a rest month when it comes to gardening, that doesn't mean you don't need to get moving at all. After all, sport and exercise are always good for you. So now that you don't have to pay attention to your plants, you have more time to exercise. Of course you can do this in your own garden. For example, you can play a game of soccer. If you have plants in pots, you can use them to form a goal. Or go do yoga. Fortunately, our hedge plants provide plenty of privacy, so you can get into zen mode undisturbed.
Tip 3: Make your own insect hotel
Feel like getting creative and testing your handiness? Then make your own insect hotel! Insects are an important part of the biodiversity in your garden. They pollinate flowers and plants, they eat creatures you would rather not have in your garden (such as aphids, which you sometimes find on hedge plants) and they are a food source for birds. In addition, insect hotels look very nice too! Reason enough to roll up your sleeves and get to work on your own insect hotel creation.
Tip 4: Going on vacation in your own garden
August is not only a month of rest, for many people it is also a month of vacation. Sometimes you don't have to go far to create a vacation feeling. You can simply go on vacation in your own garden! Put up a tent or a tepee and you're already there. With the warm weather it can also be wonderful to sleep outside. Your tent is ideal for that. Nothing but advantages!
Do you know how you can enhance the vacation feeling even more? By placing Mediterranean plants in your garden! With these exotic plants around you, it seems like you're really abroad. Delicious!
Tip 5: Relax
Perhaps the best tip we can give you is to simply relax in your garden. Lay back in a hammock, read a book in the lounge set or have a nice drink at the garden table. Give yourself that peace and quiet. While relaxing you can look around at your beautiful, green garden. You have not worked hard all year for nothing! Enjoy!
